Early READ works with parents and pre-school educators to promote reading and nurture the love for reading among children aged six years and below. In addition to training and resources for pre-school educators, NLB has reading programmes and workshops for parents so that they too can help their children to start reading early. Starter reading kits are also available to help children from lower income families on their reading journey. The kits include simple tips in the four languages, finger puppets, alphabet cards, reading activities and picture books. To provide a more conducive reading environment for pre-schoolers, NLB has built an Early Literacy Library as well as early literacy collections in revamped library spaces.
